The Constant Gardener - Ben Pike

Ben’s mum was a professional garden designer and passionate gardener, and in 2005, when Ben was 23, she died after a long battle with cancer. Shortly after her death Ben began to train as a gardener.

He studied at Capel Manor College whilst being trained by an incredible gardener called St John Stephen, The Hanging Gardener of Babylon. This provided both a classroom and real-world setting for Ben to focus his attention on methodically learning about plants while developing the skill and instinct needed to become a professional gardener.

In 2007, Ben set up The Constant Gardener in Haringey, North London. As his business thrived and things evolved, Ben’s passion for gardening grew, and he became increasingly interested in garden design and landscaping. He would then spend nearly ten years in the capital developing his skills before moving to Suffolk in 2016 to start his family.

Ben now works primarily on designing, creating, caring for and restoring gardens and outside spaces, and he has a fantastic relationship with all of his clients. His approach with design is to be creative yet restrained, with landscaping it’s to be high-quality yet low-impact and with gardening it’s to take it all in, act, and be patient. Beautiful things tend to happen……..
